Course detailsAbout Nursing Course
Nursing is the backbone of every healthcare system. Doctors diagnose and prescribe, but it is the nurse who stays beside the patient — monitoring vital signs, giving medicines on time, dressing wounds, comforting families and noticing the small changes that can save a life. India continues to need trained nurses in government hospitals, private hospitals, primary health centres and community programmes, which makes nursing one of the most stable career choices for students after school.
Our Nursing stream offers two foundational programmes: Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (ANM), which focuses on community and maternal-child health, and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM), which trains students for hospital-based nursing across medical, surgical, paediatric and maternity wards. Both programmes combine classroom theory with supervised clinical practice so that students learn not just what to do, but how to do it with confidence.
Who Should Choose This Stream?
- Students who are patient, observant and comfortable working with people in need
- Applicants who want a respected career with steady demand in both rural and urban areas
- Those willing to work in shifts and handle responsibility during emergencies
- Students who wish to build a long-term career, with options to study further later
Career Opportunities
- Staff nurse in government and private hospitals (after GNM and registration)
- ANM / health worker at sub-centres and primary health centres
- Community health and immunisation programmes
- Nursing homes, clinics, maternity homes and home-care agencies
- Opportunities to pursue Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing and specialised training later

Nursing Course – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between ANM and GNM?
ANM concentrates on community health, mother-and-child care and basic nursing at the village and health-centre level. GNM is a broader programme that prepares students for hospital nursing in all major departments and generally leads to the role of staff nurse.
Is science compulsory for nursing?
For GNM, many councils prefer or require 10+2 with science, though some accept other streams. ANM is usually open to students from any stream after 10+2. Our counsellors confirm the current rule for your session before admission.
Do nursing students get practical training?
Yes. Clinical posting in hospitals and community health settings is a core part of both programmes and is necessary to complete the course.
