Course detailsGeneral Nursing and Midwifery
A comprehensive diploma in general nursing and midwifery that prepares you to work as a staff nurse in hospitals.
About General Nursing and Midwifery
General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) is the classic route to becoming a staff nurse. It prepares students to care for patients of all ages in medical, surgical, paediatric, psychiatric, community and maternity settings. A GNM nurse is trained to assess patients, administer medicines, assist in procedures, maintain records and work as part of the hospital care team.
The programme is a balanced mix of science and service. Students study anatomy, physiology, microbiology and pharmacology, and then apply that knowledge in the wards through long hours of supervised clinical practice. By the end of the course, students are capable of handling patient care independently and responsibly.
