About Diploma in Radiology Technology

Modern diagnosis depends heavily on imaging. Before a fracture is set, a tumour is treated or an internal injury is managed, doctors need a clear picture of what is happening inside the body. Radiology technologists are the professionals who produce those images — positioning patients correctly, operating sophisticated machines and following strict radiation-safety rules.

The Diploma in Radiology Technology (DRT) teaches the principles of radiography and the hands-on operation of imaging equipment. Students learn how X-rays work, how to handle patients carefully and how to protect themselves and others from unnecessary radiation exposure.

What You Will Learn in DRT

  • Radiation physics and radiation safety
  • Human anatomy for imaging and patient positioning
  • Conventional radiography and dark-room / digital processing
  • Introduction to CT scan, MRI and ultrasound procedures
  • Contrast studies and patient care during procedures
  • Equipment handling and quality control

DRT Eligibility Criteria

  • 10+2 pass with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) from a recognised board
  • Minimum marks as specified by the awarding body

Eligibility conditions are set by the concerned council, board or university and may change from session to session. Our admission counsellors confirm your eligibility before you take admission.

Career Scope After DRT

  • X-ray technician in hospitals and diagnostic centres
  • CT and MRI technician assistant (with further experience)
  • Radiology department assistant in multi-speciality hospitals
  • Application support for imaging equipment companies

DRT – Frequently Asked Questions

Is radiology technology a good career?

Yes. Every hospital and diagnostic centre needs imaging staff, and the growth of diagnostic chains has increased demand for trained technicians.

Is radiation exposure dangerous for technicians?

Technicians are trained in radiation safety and use protective equipment and dosimeters, which keeps exposure within safe limits.
